Where does the Society hold its meetings?

The society meets at Whangaparaoa College Auditorium Foyer.

What day and time are the meetings?

The meetings are held twice a month on the first and third Thursdays of the month and commence at 7.30 pm

What type of meetings are they?

Most meetings commence with 15 minutes of astronomy news for the previous two weeks. Following this a 50 to 60 minute talk on an astronomy topic such as the stars, the Milky Way Galaxy or the Solar System etc. The talks are aimed at all levels of astronomy, whether you are a beginner or already have some background knowledge.

Are there costs to attend the meetings?

The society does have a membership fee to belong. The Subscription is currently set* at $30 per year for an individual 18 years or over. A combined family membership fee of $45 is available for 2 or more people living in the same household. There is no fee for anyone under 18 years of age. The first two meetings are free to come and experience what we do. At the end of the evening there is a supper. A gold coin donation covers the cost of the supper.

Does the Society have any telescopes I can look
through?


Yes, after each meeting, as long as it is not raining or too cloudy we can go outside and view through the societies own telescopes or binoculars.

01/ 2023 when they will be reviewed.
